New Digg.com

Digg.com has is launching a new improved site!! For anyone who hasn't used Digg before, its basically a link sharing website, where if you find something interesting, you can Digg it, then others can see that. You can then see what other people have been digging, and what stories each day have the most Diggs.

It may sound complex in my waffling explanation, though I assure you its very easy to use, and a great way to find cool new things on the Internet.

Anyway, long story short, I have some invites for the new look Digg, if anyone would like one, drop me a message with your email address in, and I will send you one over.

My First Android App

My First Android App

This morning I wrote my first Android Application using the Google App Inventor.

The software is all web based, and is very simple to use, there is no real coding you have to do, its more just linking blocks together to make them do certain things, kinda like how the Lego Mindstorm software works. What is quite cool is as your developing it on screen, if you have your Android handset plugged into your computer at the same time, you can see and play with your changes in real time without having to transfer things over or keep saving.

I haven't made anything too complex for my first go, I just followed the Hello Purr tutorial, and changed it around slightly.

The cat I used it Spot, then when you stroke her (by running your fingers over the screen) she will purr and the phone will vibrate, the purr is quite quiet so the volume has to be turned up quite a bit. Though if you shake the phone, she will let you know she isn't happy by meowing at you loudly!!

As I said, don't expect too much from this app, as its just the first tutorial and a test to see if I could get it to work, which I threw together in 15 mins while waiting for a script to run.

If anyone wants to try it though, you can download from my Blog, its called Stroke Spot.

Rock Paper Scissors Lizard Spock

This is an advanced version of Rock-Paper-Scissors which was on The Big Bang Theory, I liked the idea, but listening to Sheldon trying to explain it just confused me!!

Luckly the folks over at WikiHow.com have written up the rules in an easy to understand way.

Of if you prefer to learn from Sheldon, you can watch the youtube video below
