Avatar

Last weekend I went to Star City in Birmingham to watch Avatar in 3D, firstly, the cinema there is really good, comfy seats with a lot of leg room and stadium style raked seating, so you don't have the 6'5 guy sat in front of you blocking your view. Though on the downside, its the only cinema i have ever been to where we weren't even let into the screen until 20 mins after the advertised start of the film. As we were near the front of the que though, we still got some good seats.

I was expecting a lot of stuff in there to really show off the 3D, seen as the 3D technology used was developed by Cameron especially for this movie, though there wasn't neatly as much of that i was expecting, though there use of 3D really pulled you into the film and kept your interest.

It was a pretty good film, though im not sure it was quite up to all the hype that has been about it on the internet, but well worth going to see at the cinema to experience the 3D.

If you are a huge fan though, and enjoy foreign languages, you may want to try and learn Na'vi before you go, as some of the talking between them isn't subtitled. You can get a guide on learning it from there website, learnnavi.org

Snow Shoes

For anyone that doesn't like walking in the snow, these may be the answer, RUD Quick Step. These are basicly snow chains you can attach to your shoes.

You can get them off the net for about £10 a pair, and they look pretty good. These are apparently what the Russians use, seen as they have to deal with these snowy conditions a lot more than we do.

You can read more about them on there website: rud.com

Though personally when its snowy and icy, I prefer to just slide everywhere!

Play 360 online when banned

Anyone who has been banned from XBox Live, or anyone who wants to play online though dosnt want to shell out £40 a year to play online, help may be at hand in the form of Xbox Connect.

Ok, so its not fully online play, you still cant connect to XBox Live, though what this does let you do it play games which support system link, to then play with people over the internet.

You jsut plug your 360 into your router, plug your PC in and run the software, you can then chat and fine people to play against on your computer, when your ready to play, you just join them in a room, then fire up a system link game on your XBox.

Your XBox then thinks its directly connected to these people, though your actually connected over the internet!!

Its a great little piece of software, and perfect for anyone out there who is banned, or dosnt want to pay M$ for something every other console gives you for free!!!

3D Videos

3D Videos

Did anyone else catch the 3D week on channel 4 recently?? How much do the red/blue glasses (or what ever color there in) suck!! I can understand why 3D films have never really caught on and made it big before, as the glasses you have to use make everything look a bit of a weird color.

Though I saw Christmas Carol 3D the other week (here is a great review of it) and the 3D you see at the cinema is so much better than anything on TV, the colors are as they should be, and things look so crisp, you forget your looking though a set of glasses, this is because at the cinema they dont use colored glasses, they use ones which look more like a pair of sun glasses.

Anyone who hasnt seen a 3D film at the cinema using this method should definitely go to see something, which reminds me, Avatar is out on the 18th of December, and it should be awesome in 3D. This is because the whole film was written to be shot in 3D and the the Reality Camera System that were used to shoot this film (and lots of other 3D films) were developed especially for this movie, so fingers crossed, its gonna look amazing!

One other thing, if you can get to one, watch it at an iMax, they have everything set up just right, and it has to be the best 3D experience I have seen!

Digital Tattoo

I have never been a big fan of Tattoo's, I have always thought that if I got one, I would get bored of it within a few weeks then with I never had it! Though this is a tattoo I would get!

Its a Digital Tattoo, which is a small screen which is implanted under the skin which can play videos, display pictures, and be used as a computer or mobile phone.

How cool is that!! !never forget your mobile again, always have the internet on you, and not to mention when your not using it, you can have a image on there like a tattoo, but with the ability to change the picture when ever you like!!!

Its only a concept at the moment, though this is definitely something I would be interested in!!
