Last weekend I went to Star City in Birmingham to watch Avatar in 3D, firstly, the cinema there is really good, comfy seats with a lot of leg room and stadium style raked seating, so you don't have the 6'5 guy sat in front of you blocking your view. Though on the downside, its the only cinema i have ever been to where we weren't even let into the screen until 20 mins after the advertised start of the film. As we were near the front of the que though, we still got some good seats.
I was expecting a lot of stuff in there to really show off the 3D, seen as the 3D technology used was developed by Cameron especially for this movie, though there wasn't neatly as much of that i was expecting, though there use of 3D really pulled you into the film and kept your interest.
It was a pretty good film, though im not sure it was quite up to all the hype that has been about it on the internet, but well worth going to see at the cinema to experience the 3D.
If you are a huge fan though, and enjoy foreign languages, you may want to try and learn Na'vi before you go, as some of the talking between them isn't subtitled. You can get a guide on learning it from there website, learnnavi.org
